For Pinay runners-up in Asia's Next Top Model, they are still winners
They may not be lucky enough to win the Asia's Next Top Model search, but for Filipino models Jodilly Pendre and Katarina Rodriguez, their experiences during the duration of the competition had made them winners in their own rights.
“I've done my best. I've showed the world that we are great. The world saw na I deserve to get these opportunities. Dun ako naging winner, na at least ako sa sarili ko ang dami kong natutunan,” said Pendre in a report on GMA News TV's “Balitanghali” on Thursday.
“I still feel like a winner. I think I represented the country and all of Asia very, very well,” Rodriguez, for her part, said.
Malaysia's Sheena Lim bested the two during the show's season two finale Wednesday night at the Tanjong Jara Resort in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia.
Both Pendre and Rodriguez guested on GMA News' “Unang Hirit” before the finale's airing Wednesday, where Rodriguez said judges had a difficult time picking the winner.
Rodriguez also guessed why she made it to the finals, despite having no professional experience prior to the competition.
“You can really see my growth. You can see from day one the big difference—I think that's what made me stand apart,” she said.
Pendre, a working student before joining the competition, said this was her first time to join a model search.
Asked on what she thinks brought her to the finals, she said: “Kapag meron akong goal, 'di nawawala yung focus ko. Hindi mawawala yung confidence ko [kasi] naniniwala ako na kaya kong makuha yun. You really attract what you want.” — Rie Takumi/KBK/JL, GMA News
