Pinoys in Saudi Arabia warned vs fees for online passport appointment

Filipinos in Saudi Arabia were warned against parties that charge them fees in exchange for appointments for passport renewal.

The Philippine embassy in Saudi Arabia reminded the public that appointments for passport renewal are free of charge.

"The Embassy has not authorized any third party to charge for the service of making online passport appointments. The Embassy cautions Filipinos to be wary of these unscrupulous third-party services," it said.

It said applicants for passport renewal can go to the Embassy’s official website, www.riyadhpe.dfa.gov.ph, or through the old website, www.philembassy-riyadh.org.

However, the old website may no longer be operational after April 15.

"Likewise, all Embassy fees can be found on the website or in the Embassy premises," it added.

The embassy advised the public "to remain vigilant and meticulous to ensure that they are transacting only with the Embassy and are issued an official receipt by the Embassy."

All Embassy personnel’s names are also listed on the website, it added.  Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
