No Filipino casualty, affected by New York subway blast
The Philippine consulate office in New York on Tuesday said it has yet to receive reports of Filipino casualties or any Filipino affected by the subway attack in Time Square on Monday.
"To date, the Philippine Consulate General has yet to receive reports from New York Authorities of any Filipinos/FilAms affected by the incident," the consulate general said in a statement.
It urged the Filipino-American community in New York to contact its hotline at 9172940196 to report any Filipino or Filipino-American who may have been affected by the attack.
It advised Filipinos to avoid the area as authorities were still clearing the site.
Reports said that only four people, including the blast suspect, were hurt in the attack.
The Bangladeshi attacker, reportedly an angry former limousine driver who learned to build a bomb on the internet, is alredy in police custody.
The attacker identified as Akayed Ullah used a home-made pipe bomb in the attack. —ALG, GMA News
