Thousands of jobs available in New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan
Filipinos who want to work abroad may try New Zealand, which just opened some 33,000 jobs for migrant workers, GMA News' JP Soriano reported on 24 Oras on Thursday, citing the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
New Zealand is particularly in need of nurses, caregivers, engineers, architects, teachers and construction workers. Monthly pay for skilled workers could reach the equivalent of P100,000 or more.
"When you speak of professionals like mga teachers, engineers, architects, nurses, caregivers, napakataas na 'yan," said Bernard Olalia, POEA's officer-in-charge.
Taiwan, meanwhile, has 80 job orders for technicians, bakers, cooks, food analyst inspectors, machine operators and construction workers. Their monthly salary could be equivalent to P20,000 to P30,000 or more.
Japan, on the other hand, has 80,000 job orders for health industry workers under the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA).
The government expects faster hiring of OFWs in Japan once the Technical Intern Training Program, where private agency hiring scheme will be allowed, starts
"Ibig sabihin medyo hindi na magiging strikto and itong job orders na available na ito mas mapapadali natin mapa-deploy," Olalia said.
The POEA, however, advised would-be OFWs to be wary of illegal recruiters not only in the Philippines but also abroad. —KBK, GMA News
