Body of OFW found in septic tank in South Korea may be repatriated this week
The remains of the OFW whose skeletal remains were found in a septic tank in South Korea may be repatriated this week, Super Radyo dzBB reporter Mao dela Cruz reported on Wednesday.
The younger sister of slain OFW Angelo Claveria said the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is preparing the documents for the repatriation this week of his remains to Cabatuan, Iloilo where his family is based.
Glen Corpin, an Assistance to Nationals officer of the Philippine Embassy in South Korea, was given authorization by Claveria's mother to have the repatriation papers processed.
Claveria's family will welcome his remains at the Iloilo International Airport, where they will be transferred upon arrival in Manila.
OWWA's aid to Claveria's family will be used for his funeral and any excess amount will go to his mother.
Claveria was deployed to South Korea as a metal cracker in 2014. He disappeared in December 2015.
His remains were found in the septic tank of the factory he worked in last April during a clean-up and were later verified as his.
His family believes the suspect was one of his co-workers, a fellow Filipino. —Rie Takumi/KG, GMA News
