Prime suspect in killing of OFW found in Korea septic tank already in PHL —envoy
The Filipino suspect in the killing of an OFW whose skeletal remains were found in a septic tank in South Korea has already returned home to the Philippines, Philippine Ambassador Raul Hernandez said Tuesday, citing information from Korean police.
Interviewed on QRT, Hernandez said there are four suspects in the killing but the police have "zeroed in" on one.
"Initially, meron apat na suspects pero na-zero in nang pulis 'yung isang prime suspect na Pilipino na nandiyan na sa Pilipinas," he said.
"Hindi pa nila pinapangalanan 'yung taong ito at wala pa rin circumstances o ibang information tungkol dito."
The QRT report, citing the Korean Consulate in Cebu City, said the victim has been identified as Michael Angelo Claveria, a factory worker. It said the confirmation came from the Korean police that conducted DNA test on the remains found inside the septic tank.
Claveria's family has already been informed of the incident and they are appealing for justice.
Hernandez, however, said the Philippine Embassy has yet to receive the full report on the DNA test from Korean authorities.
"Ansabi sa amin ng pulis, ibinigay sa kanila ng National Forensics Service 'yung complete result ng DNA test pati na rin 'yung full report this coming week, so inasahan po namin na matatanggap namin 'yung full report by early next week," he said.
As for the motive for the killing, Hernandez said they are still in the dark about it.
"Sa ngayon puro speculations pa lang 'yung naririnig natin. Maganda hintayin natin 'yung result ng investigation," he said. —KBK, GMA News
