MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday urged Filipinos in northern California to heed the call of local authorities to evacuate their homes amid a dangerous wildfire in their vicinity.
The DFA said it was closely monitoring the blaze in Lake County, which is home to 1,700 Filipinos and located 178 kilometers from the state capital of Sacramento.

The blaze was 5 percent contained, unchanged from Monday, said Lieutenant Corey Paulich of the Lake County Sheriff's Department.
