DSWD to pay for funeral services of Payatas teens killed by 'warning shot'

MANILA- The Department of Social Welfare and Development will shoulder the funeral costs of two teenagers killed by a security guard's warning shot in Payatas last Friday.
Speaking to DZMM on Monday, DSWD Undersecretary Isko Moreno said the department will extend financial assistance to the families of the slain teens.

"Nais pong makatulong ng DSWD doon sa kanilang funeral service, 'yung atin pong financial program para sa ganyang sitwasyon," he said.
"Makakatulong po ang kagawaran lalo na at 'yun lang ang magagawa ng pamahalaan sa ngayon," he added.
(The DSWD would like to help pay for their funeral service. We have a financial program for this situation. The agency can help especially that this is the only thing that the government can do at present.)
Angelo Lorenzo, 14, and his friend Joshua Aguirre, 12, were killed by a security guard when they allegedly trespassed into the compound of a construction company in Payatas last Friday.
Security guard Jhonell Cordonez admitted that he fired a warning shot to warn the teenagers and claimed that the warning shot 'accidentally' hit the two victims.
He said he had no intention of killing the boys.
Josephine Lorenzo, mother of Angelo, doubted Cordonez's claims, saying her son's body bore 12 pellets from the supposed warning shot.
The Lorenzo and Aguirre families said they are determined to pursue cases against the suspect.
