Slain OFW laid to rest today

ILONGGO migrant worker Angelo Claveria, who was killed in South Korea, will be laid to rest today, June 1, 2018, at his hometown in Cabatuan, Iloilo.
The requiem mass will start at 2 p.m. to be followed by his interment at the Cabatuan public cemetery.
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) administrator Hans Leo Cacdac will attend the burial, according to Angelo’s sister Mayette.
Mayette said they hoped that after the burial, justice will be served to the killing of their 34-year-old brother.
But she lamented that family has yet to receive a word from the Philippine government as to the update on his case.
“Amo na ang masakit sa amon actually. Ga-depende nalang kami sa news sa Korea Times. Kami ya daw ga-tanga-tanga lang sa hangin kay wala man kami asahan sa Embassy kung matawag kami,” she said.
During his visit to the wake of Claveria on May 27, 2018, Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go reported that Pres. Rodrigo will fly to South Korea to discuss the case of Angelo.
“Hambal ko sa mga utod ko, tan-awon naton pagbalik ni president kung ano ang maging resulta sang ila imbestigasyon kag mga information nga ma-collect,” she said.
The skeletal remains of Claveria were found on April 3, 2018, in a water purifier tank in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.
His remains were repatriated on May 27 through OWWA, Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Go’s office.
Mayette said they are also waiting for some of her brother’s belongings in Korea
