OFW in Saudi Arabia claims maltreatment, seeks help

Another Filipina domestic helper in Saudi Arabia who is allegedly being maltreated by her employer is seeking help.
"Para niyo na pong awa, gusto ko na pong umuwi," said Virginia Fabian in a video as shown on Unang Balita on Monday. "Ang sakit na po ng tiyan ko. Di po ako makapagtrabaho dito sa Riyadh. Pinapagalitan po ako ng amo ko. Sinisigawan ako."
According to Fabian's husband in the Philippines, her employer would hit and scold her every time she complained of stomachache. He said the employer accused Virginia of faking her condition.
Virginia's husband said they already sought assistance from the agency that deployed her to Saudi Arabia, but the agency said she could not come home unless she reimburses the over P100,000 it had spent on her.
Virginia has been working in Saudi Arabia for only a week.
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration have yet to comment on Virginia's appeal. —KBK, GMA News
