The Department of Foreign Affairs said on Friday it is awaiting the go signal of Saudi Arabia authorities for the repatriation of the remains of an overseas Filipino worker who was stabbed to death earlier this week.
Authorities are expected to approve the repatriation once it receives the autopsy report and concludes the investigation into the incident, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh said, according to an update posted by the DFA on Facebook.
The victim, who the embassy said was from Pampanga, was allegedly stabbed by another Filipinoinside their shared quarters in Saudi Arabia.
The DFA has declined to release the identity of the victim, but assured that the agency will exert every effort to obtain justice for the slain Filipino and facilitate the early repatriation of his remains.
Meanwhile, according to Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Adnan Alonto, the suspect is in serious but stable condition at the National Guard Hospital in Riyadh.
The suspect jumped from the third floor of the apartment building where he and the victim lived.
Alonto appealed to the Filipino community in Saudia Arabia to refrain from passing on any information about the incident that is deemed speculative and unverified. —KG, GMA News
