OFW allegedly stabbed to death by fellow Filipino in Saudi — DFA

An overseas worker from the Philippines was reportedly stabbed to death by a fellow Filipino inside their shared quarters in Saudi Arabia, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday.
"The DFA is closely coordinating with authorities in Saudi Arabia who are investigating the death of a Filipino worker allegedly in the hands of a fellow Filipino in Riyadh on Monday," the department said in a statement.
In a report to the Home Office, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh said the victim, who hails from Pampanga, was allegedly stabbed for unknown reasons by his room mate.
The DFA declined to release the identity of the victim, but assured that the agency will exert every effort to obtain justice for the slain Filipino and facilitate the early repatriation of his remains.
Saudi Arabia is the top destination of job-seeking Filipinos in the Middle East, with a least 1 million workers mostly employed in the household service and construction sectors. — BAP, GMA News
