UK embassy in Makati closed from July 10-14

MANILA, Philippines - From its office in Makati City, the UK Embassy is moving to a new building in Taguig City. The change of address compels the embassy to be close for 4 days (July 10-14).

A representative from the UK Embassy, Oya Arriola, said that the processing period of visa applications would be affected by this move even if the VFS Visa Application Centre at the Philippine Axa Building on Senator Gil Puyat Avenue in Makati City will remain open. This is because final decisions regarding approval of visas still comes from the Embassy.

The UK Embassy will re-open on July 15. Their new address would be : 120 Upper McKinley Road, McKinley Town Centre, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig Centre, 1634 Metro Manila.

Arriola said, "What is affected is the processing at the embassy end, as decisions are made here. The application center only accepts applications, makes sure requirements are complete, and gathers biometric data."

An advisory from the UK embassy said:

"The VFS would deal with applications solely by appointments that qualify under the fast-track criteria which is available through its website. The move will make the normal expected turnaround time for visa applications of 48 working hours longer."

"The normal turnaround time will not be valid during this time and for the period immediately following. Fast track applicants should expect to be able to collect their passports within 5 to 7 working days during this period. The British embassy apologizes for any inconvenience this move may cause."

The UK Embassy will re-open on July 15. Their new address would be : 120 Upper McKinley Road, McKinley Town Centre, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig Centre, 1634 Metro Manila. - OFW Guide
