MANILA, Philippines – An employee of Lebanon's national airline, MEA has been fired for humiliating travelers from the Philippines.
The woman, who was working at the counter at the Beirut Airport, used the loudspeaker to announce "Filipino people, stop talking," addressing a group of Asian passengers.
A Lebanese businessman, who witnessed the incident complained to the ground staff, but was brushed off.
He then took to Twitter and Facebook to launch a protest campaign and sent a letter to the airline company which promised to investigate.
The incident is part of what human rights groups say is widespread discrimination and abuse of foreign workers in Lebanon.
