US Embassy in Manila closed Jan. 16, 19

Some embassies in Manila will be closed on some days of Pope Francis' five-day visit to the Philippines.

The United States Embassy in Manila on Wednesday said it will be closed Jan. 16, Friday, due to the papal visit holiday.

In an announcement, it also said it will be closed as well on Jan. 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a US holiday.

Services will resume Tuesday, Jan. 20.

However, the Canadian Embassy said it will be open and observe regular hours on Jan. 15, 16, and 18.

Pope Francis will be in the Philippines from Jan. 15 to 19. During his visit, he will take part in activities in Metro Manila and Leyte.   Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
