Missing OFW in Jeddah has problems, son says



The eldest son of Nilda Bongar, the OFW reported missing in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, said his mother mentioned to them an unspecified problem before she went missing.
"May nabanggit siyang problema kaso walang specific kung ano talaga," said Dan Mark Bongar in a report by GMA News' JP Soriano on 24 Oras on Thursday.
Bongar has been missing for a year and five months, according to her relatives in the Philippines. Her employer had reported her to have absconded in September 2016.
Dan, accompanied by the pro-migrant group Blas Ople Policy Center, went to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) office on Thursday to get an update on the search for his mother.
The meeting was attended by OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac and representatives from Zontar Manpower Services Incorporated, the agency that deployed Bongar in May 2016.
"Sana mapabilis po 'yung aksyon sa paghahanap sa nanay ko," Dan said.
Bongar is a widow who has four children in Pangasinan.
"As panganay kailangan kong gabayan 'yung mga kapatid ko, i-guide sila," Dan said.
The Philippine government has already sent a note verbale to Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to expedite the search for Bongar.
OWWA, meanwhile, has ordered the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to probe the recruitment agency despite its claim that it is doing everything it can to locate Bongar. —KBK, GMA News
