OFW admits killing colleague in Saudi - report

A Filipino worker in Saudi Arabia has admitted killing a colleague last week during an argument in an apartment in Yanbu area, a major Red Sea port in the country.

Online news site Arab News reported Friday that the suspect, identified only as Rojilo, had tried to flee from the crime scene but was arrested 6 km away.

The report said the killing stemmed from disagreements between Rojilo and work colleagues, including the victim who was earlier identified as Marlon Viernes Delizo.

Rojilo's colleagues were reportedly sore over the "rapport" Rojilo established with his boss, as well as Rojilo's plan to convert to Islam.

Investigators said the tension came to a head last week during a drinking bout at an apartment the men shared, where Delizo allegedly hit Rojilo over the head.

This prompted Rojilo to stab Delizo three times in the back, once in the stomach and once in the heart. A third man, Muhammad Gasim, tried to stop the attack and was stabbed once in the stomach and once in the back.

Rojilo then fled the apartment and police and an ambulance were called. Other workers living there are said to have tried hiding the bottles of alcohol.

He was later found exhausted and bleeding. He admitted to the murder and said that the argument took place during a drinking bout.

Both Delizo and Rojilo worked for Hadi Haider Company, which is constructing an electrical substation in Yanbu, which is three-and-a-half hours ride north of Jeddah. - GMANews.TV
