Pinoy couple in Jeddah seeks help for missing baby

A Filipino couple in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia is seeking help from police and local residents in finding their one-year-old daughter who went missing Thursday night.

Online news site Arab News reported Saturday that Amal Acub, one year and seven months old, was separated from her parents while they were shopping at the gold souk in Jeddah’s Balad district at about 9 p.m. Thursday.

The parents of the toddler, Abdullah and Farida Baguan Acub, are from Mindanao in the southern Philippines.

Amenodin Guiwa, a relative of the couple, said the toddler was last seen playing with her elder sister. The baby suddenly got lost in a huge crowd of shoppers.

The Arab news report asked anyone who finds the girl to contact her parents at 05095-08519, or Guiwa at 05560-51069. - GMANews.TV

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) sees social media as the main reason for the rising number of Filipinos marrying or becoming partners of foreign nationals. In 2022, the CFO recorded 6,854 marriages or partnerships with foreign nationals, a 40.1 percent increase from the 4,891 “intermarriages” recorded in 2021. “First of all, what we see in the increase in the marriage rate of Filipinos or Filipinos with foreign partners is because of social media, (that) is number one; matchings; letters, introduction of their friends,” CFO chairperson Romulo Arugay said at the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing yesterday.
