Filipinos in Belgium can now look forward to having freshly made Pinoy dishes as a Filipino restaurant finally opens in Brussels.

The restaurant which has a seating capacity of 65, boasts of Filipino and Belgian dishes prepared by a Filipino chef, Walter Coneras.

Manager Olive Gravidez informed Balitang Europe that they serve tapsilog, tocilog, longsilog and arroz caldo during breakfast which are all-time favorites of Filipinos.

"Bukas na kasi kami ng 7:30 ng umaga kaya maraming kababayan natin ang dumadaan dito sa restaurant para mag-almusal (We are already open at 7:30 so many of our fellow Filipinos drop by our restaurant to have breakfast)," she said.

But Chef Coneras admitted that crepe (pancakes for Filipinos) remains the number one choice for Belgians in the morning. That’s why he just makes sure that all customers will be satisfied with every dish he prepares.

"Inilalagay ko ang sarili ko sa lugar ng mga customers. Kaya sinisigurado kong masasarapan sila sa lahat ng aking inihahanda (I put myself in the shoes of all the customers so I make sure they will find everything I prepare delicious)," he said.

On the other hand, Candido Gravidez, proprietor of another restaurant named Le Duc De Fer stated that he still aims to introduce a variety of our native dishes to Belgians.

"Sa ngayon ang aking objective ay kung paano ko maiintroduce ang ating mga produktong Pilipino. Pero sa aking pag-uumpisa, nakikita ko na nagustuhan ng mga Belgians ito (As of now, my main objective is to introduce Filipino products to the Belgians but with this start I see that they will like them)," he confirmed.

His statement was supported by Henry Desmet, a Belgian engineer who enjoyed eating lumpia (spring rolls).

"This is the first time I tasted Philippine food that’s very good, very nice, very tasty", he said.

Olive Gravidez confirmed that in a few weeks time, they will launch palabok (rice noodles topped with seafood sauce) and halo-halo (shave ice with mixed sweet fruit and milk).

The restaurant which is open from 7:30 am to 8 pm everyday assures its customers of 3 great deals which will definitely set them apart from their competitors----good food, personalized service and value for their money.
