Radio program for Pinoys launched in Australia
A radio program was recently launched in Canberra, Australia to create a "bonding atmosphere" for Filipinos in the country's capital as well as in other areas.
According to a Department of Foreign Affairs statement on Tuesday, the Radyo Filipino Canberra (RFC) Broadcast was successfully launched on March 16 at the CMS (Canberra Multicultural Service) in Holder.
"The RFC group aims to deliver social and cultural benefits to Filipino- Australians in Canberra and the surrounding regions. Its goal is to create a 'bonding atmosphere' by raising greater awareness of the services and activities among the different Filipino community organizations," the statement said.
The RFC will be broadcasting under FM radio station CMS 91.1 every Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
The program will be filled with music and entertainment, as well as news and other educational and community information.
Philippine Ambassador to Australia Belen Anota, who attended the event's launch, took the opportunity, aside from congratulating the RFC, to remind the Filipino community about the upcoming May polls.
Philippine Ambassador to Australia Belen Anota led the live interviews, followed by members of the Filipino community in Australia including:
"(She) encouraged everyone that upon receipt of the election ballots, voters need to read and carefully follow the enclosed guidelines to ensure the validity of their votes, accomplish the ballots and send them immediately to the Embassy," the statement said.
"Exercising their right of suffrage, as the Ambassador emphasized, shows love for the Philippines," it continued. - Gian C. Geronimo, VVP, GMA News
