100 Pinoy deportees arrive from Japan

MANILA - Around 100 Filipino deportees from Japan discreetly arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Saturday afternoon on board a chartered Japan Airlines plane.

The deportees, who arrived in handcuffs, were the first group of around 5,700 Filipinos found to be illegally working and overstaying in various cities of Japan.

The travel documents of the deportees, who included several minors, were processed at the airport's tarmac area upon their disembarkation from a Boeing 767 plane of Japan Airlines.

Their arrival was allegedly kept under wraps to avoid generating negative publicity.

More than 5,600 Filipinos are still detained at Japan's Justice Ministry Immigration Bureau pending their deportation to Manila .
