Remains of executed Pinay yet to be repatriated

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday reported that the cremated remains of the Pinay drug mule executed in China has yet to be repatraited.

"The mother and the son arrived last night from Shanghai and the repatriation of her cremated remains is still being arranged by our Consulate General in Shanghai," said DFA spokesperson, Assistant Secretary Raul Hernandez.
The 35-year-old Filipina was executed Wednesday morning.
She was arrested on January 25, 2011 at an international airport after authorities found 6.198 kilos of heroin inside her luggage.
Hernandez reiterated the DFA's appeal to media to not give out information which would lead to the disclosure of the Pinay's identity and the circumstances of her family.
"Again, we call on the media to respect the privacy of the family. Please, let them grieve in peace," he said.
