Healthcare firm in UAE to hire more Pinoy nurses

A healthcare provider in the United Arab Emirates will hire more than a hundred Filipino nurses before the year ends, Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said Saturday.

She said Paolo Martel, managing director of Ikon Solutions, recruitment partner of UAE-based NMC Healthcare, told her at least 160 applicants have already been hired at Ikon offices in Manila and Cebu.

Baldoz also said Raveendra Rai, vice president for human resources at NMI Healthcare, told her the comapny will open two new hospitals by 2016 as the healthcare industry in UAE continues to grow.

Rai said specialty nurses who want to work in the UAE should build enough experience in a specific specialty area or department, as this is a licensing requirement.

Filipino nurses who want to work in Abu Dhabi also need to pass the Pearson VUE exam required by the Health Authority in UAE.  Reuters
