The death toll from Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) rose anew early Friday, two weeks after the cyclone ravaged parts of Visayas and Southern Luzon.

In its 6 a.m. update, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said the number of fatalities now stood at 4,015.

At least 18,567 were injured while 1,602 remain missing, it added in its latest update.

The NDRRMC said Yolanda affected 2,157,726 families or 10,023,075 people in 10,736 villages in 44 provinces.

Of these, 81,792 families or 381,022 people are staying in 1,529 evacuation centers.

Also, the NDRRMC said more than one million houses had been damaged, 536,313 of them totally and 549,133 partially.

The estimated damage caused by Yolanda remained at P12,656,523,962.50, including P2,143,840,052.74 in infrastructure and P10,512,683,909.76 in agriculture.

Power outage is still experienced in some areas of Mimaropa, Bicol, and Visayas.

As of Wednesday, the Task Force Clearing and Cleaning reported some 41 percent of debris in Tacloban City had been cleared.

An earlier report on dzBB radio said it may take two weeks to clear the streets of the city of debris. — LBG, GMA News
