Pinay appointed to highest UN post in Cambodia
A Filipina was appointed Resident Coordinator for the United Nations for Cambodia, the highest post in the UN System in the Southeast Asian nation.
Pauline Tamesis will oversee more than 20 UN specialized agencies, programs, and funds in Cambodia.
Before her appointment, she served as a UN Development Programme (UNDP) Country Office Support Chief and Country Director of the UNDP Office in Bangladesh.
Tamesis holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Georgetown University (USA) and a Bachelor’s degree in Management Economics from the Ateneo de Manila University.
At a welcome dinner in her honor, Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia Christopher Montero said her appointment is a "a source of pride for the Philippines and the Filipino community in Cambodia."
"I am confident that she will be able to discharge her important duties with the same professionalism and excellence that Filipinos are known for," Montero said. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
