Pinoy seafarer dies in towboat blast off Fujairah


A Filipino seaman was killed while another one was wounded in an explosion on board a towboat off the United Arab Emirates, GMA News' Bam Alegre reported on Balitanghali on Friday.
The fatality was identified as Carlos Buenaventura Tumbaga Jr.
report on Gulf News said the explosion occurred on February 23 off the coast of Fujairah.
The Philippine Consulate General said the repatriation of Tumbaga's remains to the Philippines is already being processed.
"The agency and the ship company will be the one taking care of the expenses related to the shipment of the remains of Mr. Tumbaga," said Consul General Raymond Cortes on Balitanghali.
The report did not identify the Filipino who was injured in the blast.
The Gulf News report said four other Filipino crew members were on board the towboat when the accident happened but they were all unharmed. —KBK, GMA News
