Rescued OFW in Kuwait returns home, still open to working abroad

Marjorie Lizada, the OFW who was rescued from abusive employers in Kuwait, was finally reunited with her family in Taguig on Thursday, according to Raffy Tima's exclusive report on 24 Oras on Friday.
Marjorie said she considers herself lucky as she was able to come home alive despite her ordeal.
"Masaya po na maluwag na, hindi na po nahihirapan," she said.
According to Marjorie, her first employer would only feed her once a day. She was also punched in different parts of her body and, one time, her employer's child shoved her to a toiler bowl.
On top of the abuse, Marjorie said she was also sold to a new employer who treated her no better.
"Ibinenta po ako sa ibang agency tapos binili po ako ng pangalawa kong employer," she said.
Marjorie was rescued by Philippine labor personnel last week after 24 Oras aired the appeal of her family.
While staying at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Kuwait to wait for her repatriation, Marjorie met several other OFWs who had the same tragic experience as her.
Marjorie said some of these OFWs asked her to contact their families in the Philippines once she gets home to update them on their condition.
But despite her bad experience in Kuwait, Marjorie said she is still planning to work abroad. Her mother, Lita, is opposed to this.
"Nabubuhay ko naman po sila dito sa hanapbuhay ko," Lita said.
However, if her daughter would insist on working abroad, Lita hopes it would not be in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said Marjorie will receive financial and livelihood assistance from the government.
"Puwede din natin siyang bigyan ng employment assistance kung option inya ay empleyo obviously dito sa ating bansa kasi kailangan niya muna siguro manatili dito," said OWWA administrator Hans Leo Cacdac. —KBK, GMA News
