PHLPost launches door-to-door delivery for Pinoys in Middle East

Filipinos in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates can now send parcels and cash to their families back home using the Philippine Postal Corporation's new delivery service.

PHLPost said the door-to-door deliveries of parcels and cash will initially start in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, news site Khaleej Times reported Sunday.

“With PHLPost virtually present in all towns in the Philippines, it has the manpower as well as the logistics required to carry out door-to-door deliveries, which it has been doing with the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program of the government,” Philippine Postmaster-General and PHLPost CEO Ma. Josefina de la Cruz said.

According to de la Cruz, PHLPost is in talks with various institutions to establish an understanding for it to become a sizeable player in the area of parcel and door-to-door cash delivery services.

“With a big number of Filipino nationals in the region, Saudi Arabia and the UAE offer the best environment to jump start the new business plan,” she said.

De la Cruz led a brief presentation of PHLPost's new business plan before officials and staff of the diplomatic missions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Philippine Consul-General in Dubai Benito Valeriano received the visiting party at the Philippine Consulate General premises.

With de la Cruz were Mama Lecanto, al Haj, APMG for Administration and Maura Baghari-Regis, Area Director.

De la Cruz had previously led a team to Dubai to establish an understanding with the UAE’s Emirates Post (Empost) regarding the new service. A similar visit was also made in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. — DVM, GMA News
