Pag-IBIG re-opens Tacloban Branch, allocates P10B for calamity and housing loans

The Tacloban branch of the Pag-IBIG Fund re-opened on November 25 to resume its services to
its members.

Pag-IBIG Fund President and Chief Executive Officer Darlene Marie B. Berberabe flew in from
Manila to preside over the re-opening of the branch, which was rendered inoperative for two
weeks after typhoon Yolanda lashed through the city and destroyed almost all standing structures
therein. The re-opening of the branch was in line with the directive of Vice President Jejomar C.
Binay, who is also Chairman of the Fund, to open the doors of Pag-IBIG to its members as soon
as possible.

"Now more than ever, our members need the services of the Fund and we will waste no time in
performing our task of providing assistance to our members", Berberabe said.

"While many our officers and staff here in Tacloban are still reeling from the devastation
wrought by typhoon Yolanda, they are squarely focused on their resolve to help Pag-IBIG
members", she added.

The Pag-IBIG President announced that the Fund is allocating some P5 Billion for calamity
loans for Pag-IBIG members in Tacloban and the rest of the Eastern Visayas.

Pag-IBIG started accepting loan applications on Tuesday, November 26.
Under Pag-IBIG's calamity loan program, members can borrow as much as 80% of their savings
with the Fund. Berberabe said that the Fund has relaxed some of its rules to ensure that more
members are able to access the program.

In addition, the Pag-IBIG chief announced that the Fund will allocate P5 Billion for housing
loans.

Members with existing housing loans and are current on their payments may apply for, and shall
be given, a 3 month moratorium in their monthly amortization.

The agency will also assist members who have taken out housing loans with Pag-IBIG and are
updated in their payments, and whose homes were damaged by the typhoon, in filing insurance
claims. All housing loan accounts have mandatory insurance against fire and other allied perils.

During her time in Leyte, Berberabe briefed local officials on Pag-IBIG's various programs and
initiatives for typhoon victims.

Pag-IBIG has, to date, distributed relief goods to ten municipalities affected by the super typhoon
and has committed to reach out to more communities in the coming days
