POEA tests ‘straight to check-in’ system for OFWs at NAIA

Overseas Filipino workers leaving for their host countries may soon have an easier time departing from the Philippines with a new “straight to check-in” system now being tested.

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) on Wednesday said it started pre-testing the system at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport's Terminal 3.

“[We are] pre-testing our 'straight to check-in' system at NAIA 3 for departing OFW,” said POEA head Hans Leo Cacdac on Twitter, adding similar testings will also be done at NAIA terminals 1, 2 and 4.

Cacdac posted on Twitter a notice to departing land-based OFWs informing them of the POEA and Bureau of Immigration's one-stop overseas employment certificate (OEC) validation system.

Under the system, those with OECs or e-receipts issued at the POEA Balik Manggagawa processing center in Mandaluyong City can go straight to the immigration counters after airline check-in.

Those with OECs or e-receipts issued at Philippine Overseas Labor Offices, POEA regional offices, mall processing centers, Duty Free Philippines, Pag-IBIG office in Makati City and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration office in Pasay City may proceed to the POEA labor assistance counter after airline check-in.

“We are innovating to serve you better,” Cacdac said. — KBK, GMA News
