The army declared martial law to restore order after six months of anti-government protests which have left the country without a functioning government. The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration is considering a partial ban on the deployment of migrant workers to Thailand due to political tensions in Bangkok, a report on GMA's “24 Oras” said Wednesday.

Under a partial deployment ban, Filipinos who have been hired to work in Thailand only recently will be prevented from leaving for the country.

Partial deployment prohibitions were implemented for both Venezuela and Ukraine in March due to political unrest in the said countries.

Despite tensions between pro- and anti-government protesters, Bangkok residents reportedly feel safe because of the heavy military presence in the streets.
