FILIPINOS in Haiti were advised to stay indoors amid protests in the Caribbean country.

The Philippine Embassy said it is closely monitoring the situation in Haiti as protests continue for the fifth day.
Demonstrations erupted last week and have caused disruptions in the capital Port-au-Prince and other cities.
“We advise our kababayans in Haiti to stay indoors and prepare their personal security plans. If they must venture outdoors, they should avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people,” Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez said.
Philippine Honorary Consul General in Haiti Fitzgerald Brandt reported that Filipinos are safe and have  so far stayed away from the affected areas.
There are an estimated 500 Filipinos in Haiti.
