Kid to OFW father amid COVID-19 threat: 'Huwag ka nang bumalik sa China kasi mahal ka namin'

A little boy got the chance to be reunited with his overseas working father who was among the 30 Filipinos repatriated from China amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak.
According to Vonne Aquino's report on Unang Balita on Monday, the OFW's family was elated to see him safe after completing the 14-day mandatory quarantine procedure in New Clark City.
"Pa, sana huwag ka nang bumalik sa China kasi mahal na mahal ka po namin," the OFW's son said.
Their home was decorated with balloons, and cake was also prepared for the hardworking father. The sweet reunion was filled with warm hugs.
"Masaya po, as in, talagang sobrang saya. Parang maluwag na po 'yung pakiramdam namin," the repatriate's partner said.
The OFW's employer in China, on the other hand, has expressed willingness to hire him again once the health situation there stabilizes.
The 30 Filipinos from China's Wuhan City—the center of the outbreak—along with 19 members of the repatriation team, had been allowed to go home on Saturday after being required to undergo a two-week quarantine at a facility in Tarlac.
"We are glad that all our repatriates from China are well and did not exhibit any signs of the COVID-19. Through everyone’s cooperation, we have ZERO infections and ZERO mortalities," Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said.
Another batch of Filipino repatriates, numbering to over 400, will be arriving this week from Japan.
More than 2,400 people had died from COVID-19, most of them in China where the virus originated.
The vast majority of the deaths were in the provincial capital of Wuhan, where the virus first emerged in December. —Dona Magsino/KBK, GMA News
