Marcos orders 24/7 deployment of BOC, DA teams to ensure 'uninterrupted' shipping of goods ---- By ANNA FELICIA BAJO, GMA Integrated News
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has directed a round-the-clock deployment of teams from the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) to guarantee an uninterrupted shipment process across the country.
During the 4th meeting with the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) – Infrastructure Sector Group on Wednesday, Marcos underscored the importance of non-stop shipment process to accommodate the arrival of more ships into the country.
“In this business, there’s no afterhours. It can – it’s ready 24/7. So, let’s not put an extra team, let’s just keep it running. Whatever you have there in the day, let the same number of people that you have all 24 hours,” Marcos said.
“So, three eight-hour shifts,” he added.
Marcos made the remarks following the recommendation of the PSAC to let the BOC and the DA produce a shifting schedule to ensure 24/7 operations across all government services relating to logistics and supply chains.
The PSAC said the process would ensure continuous inspection, clearance, and payment process, and will also reduce costs and time, particularly on the x-ray scanning operations of the BOC and DA’s offices tasked to inspect reefer vans.
In the meeting held at the MalacaƱang Palace, PSAC Strategic Convenor, President and CEO of the Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc. Sabin Aboitiz, also presented to Marcos their recommendations.
Those who attended the meeting were members Enrique Razon, Manuel Pangilinan, Eric Ramon Recto, Joanne de Asis, Ramoncito Fernandez, Rogelio Singson, Christian Gonzalez, Daniel Aboitiz along with PSAC Secretariat members Geraldine Polanco-Onganon, David Jude Sta.
