DFA announces hotline for kin of OFWs in Algeria
The Department of Foreign Affairs has announced a hotline for relatives of overseas Filipino workers in Algeria, where a deadly hostage-taking took place last week.
Foreign Affairs spokesman Raul Hernandez said the next-of-kin worried about their loved ones in Algeria may call the mobile number hotline.
"The next-of-kin of OFWs in Algeria may call the DFA's hotline: 09471798064," Hernandez said on his Twitter account Wednesday night.
Earlier, the DFA said at least six Filipinos were among the hostages killed when armed men stormed an oil field in Algeria last week.
The DFA also said at least four Filipinos are still unaccounted for.
More than 30 Filipinos who were evacuated from Algeria were flown home earlier this week.
Meanwhile, Hernandez said four OFWs working at In Amenas facility arrived from Algeria Wednesday afternoon.
"They were not taken hostage and thus unharmed. DFA officials met them at NAIA," he said. — RSJ, GMA News
