PHL Embassy in Norway donates Noli, Fili manuscripts


Visitors to the Oslo Public Library in Norway can now learn more about national hero Dr. Jose Rizal after maunscripts of his works "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo" were donated to the institution.
 
The Philippine Embassy in Oslo donated the manuscripts to the library's Multilingual Library last Dec. 30, the 116th anniversary of Rizal's martyrdom, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
 
"The donated books will become part of the Filipiniana collection of the Multilingual Library," the DFAsaid.
 
In June last year, the Embassy had also donated 30 Filipiniana books to the Oslo Public Library.
 
Philippine Ambassador to Norway Bayani Mercado presented the copies of the manuscripts produced by the Philippine National Historical Institute to the Multilingual Library's Runar Skrøvset and to Maria Bagtas, webmaster for the Development Unit.
 
The Oslo Public Library, also known as the Deichmann Library, is the first and the largest public library in Norway.
 
It has 16 branches and departments, including the Multilingual Library, which serves the entire country with its extensive collection in over 35 languages. - VVP, GMA News
