PHL ConGen in Dubai closed June 6 & 12
The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be closed on June 6 and 12 in observance of holidays in the UAE and the Philippines.
In a public advisory, the Philippine Consulate General said June 6, a Thursday, is a UAE holiday marking Al Isra’a Wal Miraj.
Al Isra’a Wal Miraj is observed on the 27th day of the month of Rajab, the seventh month of the Islamic calendar, according to TimeandDate.com.
TimeandDate.com said the event "marks the night that Allah (God) took Mohammad (also known as Mohamed or Muhammed) on a journey from Mecca to Jerusalem and then to heaven."
In the UAE, June 6 is a holiday for the public and private sectors.
This means a three-day weekend, as the date falls just before the weekend on Friday and Saturday,Ahlanlive.com said.
Ahlanlive.com added ministries and other federal offices will close on June 6, and reopen on June 9.
Meanwhile, the PCG said it will also be closed on June 12, a Wednesday, to mark Philippine Independence Day. - VVP, GMA News
