PHL, UAE labor chiefs discuss manpower cooperation
Labor chiefs of the Philippines and United Arab Emirates discussed possible areas of joint cooperation this week on the sidelines of an international labor conference in Abu Dhabi.
Philippine labor secretary Rosalinda Baldoz held talks with UAE counterpart Saqr bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, who lauded the Philippines in the conference, Khaleej Times reported.
"During the meeting, they discussed ways of boosting bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries in the labor markets and Manpower fields," the Khaleej Times report said.
They also agreed on continuing cooperation through technical committees between the two countries, and possibilities of implementing these initiatives.
Baldoz and Ghobash tackled these issues on the sidelines of "International conference on the impact of labor mobility on sustainable development."
During their talks, Ghobash hailed the participation of Baldoz and the Philippine delegation in the conference.
He reassured her the UAE is committed to protect labor rights, and provide workers the appropriate work environment in accordance to national legislation and international standards.
For her part, Baldoz commended the UAE’s efforts to protect the rights of foreign workers, policies, initiatives and experiments.
She also cited the UAE for its adoption of pioneering experiments in the labor market in this regard. — LBG, GMA News
