Netizens call for justice for Pinay raped, slain in Australia
Online messages of sympathy and calls for justice poured out for the Australia-based Filipina Joan Ryther who was raped and murdered on Wednesday last week.
A Facebook page called RIP Joan Canino Ryther has 5,220 likes as of posting time, filled mostly with sympathy messages for Cory Ryther, Joan’s Canadian-born husband, who has been visibly emotional following his wife’s rape and murder.
The administrator of the page wrote: "Joan Canino Ryther...such a beautiful woman taken from us too soon in a terrible tradgedy. We pray and hope that the person who did what they did to you gets found and justice is served."
The Ryther couple was expecting their first child when the murder occurred.
Joan's body was found last Wednesday in the front yard of a house in Logan Central, Queensland.
She was on her way to work at a fast food restaurant when she was raped and murdered.

“My deepest sympathies go out to Corey, [his] family and anyone that has ever known Joan. My prayers are with you in this shocking and horrible situation,” one mourner wrote.
“A beautiful soul has been taken from this world and will be forever missed,” said another.
"...in the Philippines you can get away with murder, as long as you have money you can buy justice in Pinas...that will never gonna happen here in Australia..No matter how long it takes Joan will get justice," one commenter said.
Cory himself posted on the tribute page, sharing how it has helped him cope with the twin ordeals of loosing his wife and unborn child.
“Thank you so much for this, I just found this page and it is very nice,” Cory posted.
Joan moved to Australia from the Philippines around 2009 and met her husband in 2011. They got married last year.
The investigators are still searching for possible witnesses, including a man in a yellow jumper who was said to be "sobbing" in the front porch of a nearby home on the night of the murder. - Patricia Denise Chiu, VVP, GMA News
