We wish to make this particular report that we find not in accordance with our existing laws relative to election:

          Activity :  FILM SHOWING CONTAINING THE SPEECH OF PRES. NOYNOY
                            AQUINO ENDORSING THE CANDIDACY OF INCUMBENT 
                            MAYOR DARLENE ANTONINO-CUSTODIO AND THE SPEECH OF   
                            THE INCUMBENT MAYOR.

          Venue of the Activity:   Daproza Building, Osmena St., General Santos
                                                     City  (fronting RD Plaza).
          Date :     May 10, 2013
           Time :    7:46pm

NARRATIVE STORY:

The  One Vote WATCHDOG team, while roving the city, noticed a film  showing for public  containing the endorsement of President Noynoy Aquino to the candidacy of Incumbent Mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio. The team checked the situation, and the following incidents were discovered:

1.      The activity has no permit.
2.      The incharge of the film showing in the venue told the group that they
asked the Comelec Gensan, particularly Atty Marlon Casquejo, a permission but according to Atty Casquejo it is alright without giving them a written approval. 


The incident was coordinated with the Police Authority thru the police officers present and they reported this to their commanding officer, but the Chief of Police responded only after the group (those who are responsible in the film showing) has already left the venue even though the distance of the Police Station from the site is only about 200 meters.

We are requesting for a fact finding of this case against Atty Casquejo, Gen Santos Comelec Office and Atty  R. Tambuang, Regional Comelec.

We hope this will be given due and proper action.

Social media seen as cause of rising intermarriages --- Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) sees social media as the main reason for the rising number of Filipinos marrying or becoming partners of foreign nationals. In 2022, the CFO recorded 6,854 marriages or partnerships with foreign nationals, a 40.1 percent increase from the 4,891 “intermarriages” recorded in 2021. “First of all, what we see in the increase in the marriage rate of Filipinos or Filipinos with foreign partners is because of social media, (that) is number one; matchings; letters, introduction of their friends,” CFO chairperson Romulo Arugay said at the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing yesterday. China ships maintain presence in key West Philippine Sea areas --- Michael Punongbayan - The Philippine Star

STAR / Michael Varcas MANILA, Philippines — While Chinese vessels in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) have decreased in number, they have maintained a presence in three key land features where naval and coast guard ships have intensified operations in the past seven days, according to the Philippine Navy. Latest monitoring by the Philippine Navy showed armed ships of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) maintaining a menacing presence around the grounded BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin Shoal, Panatag Shoal and Escoda Shoal. According to the Philippine Navy, there are 17 Chinese military vessels and 28 China Coast Guard (CCG) boats spotted inside the country’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ) between Sept. 23 and 30, or one vessel more than in the previous week Sept.17-23.
