40 maltreated OFWs return from Kuwait
At least 40 overseas Filipino workers who were allegedly maltreated by their employers returned home from Kuwait Wednesday afternoon.
The workers arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 at about 4 p.m. aboard an Emirates EK-332 flight, radio dzBB reported Wednesday evening.
Most of the OFWs were household service workers who had problems with their employers.
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration representatives who received the returning OFWs said the workers' problems ranged from non-payment of salary to physical maltreatment.
Earlier, Kuwait lifted a ban on the departure of overstaying OFWs. Vice President and presidential adviser on OFW concerns Jejomar Binay thanked the Kuwait government for the gesture. — DVM, GMA News
