DFA: Nearly 800 Pinoy repatriates arriving from Libya over the weekend
Nearly 800 Filipino repatriates from Libya are scheduled in Manila over the weekend, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Saturday.
In a news release, the DFA said the first batch of 419 Filipinos will be aboard flight PR 9009 and will arrive at around 10 p.m. on Saturday.
They will be followed by the second batch of 347 Filipinos who are scheduled to arrive around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The latest arrivals will bring the total number of Filipinos repatriated from Libya to 2,727.
Both fights originate from Malta where the the government-chartered ship F/B Bridge ferried Filipinos from the Libyan cities of Benghazi and Misrata.
Representatives from the DFA and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration will assist and brief the repatriates upon their arrival.
The DFA declared Crisis Alert Level 4 in Libya on July 20 due to the ongoing armed conflict in the African country.
This led to the issuance of a total deployment ban and the implementation of the mandatory repatriation program.
The DFA also reiterated its appeal to all remaining Filipinos in Libya to immediately reach out to the Philippine Embassy in Tripoli to register for repatriation. — Andrei Medina/JDS, GMA News
