Pinoy engineers in Saudi urged to help complete Kingdom’s projects

Filipino engineers in Saudi Arabia were urged to take an active part in implementing projects slated for completion in the next five years.

The Saudi Council of Engineers made the call as it noted Filipino engineers are active, professional and dependable, Saudi-based news site Arab News reported.

“Filipino engineers are active and professional. They’re dependable, as they participate in the Kingdom various developmental projects,” Arab News quoted Saudi engineer and SCE board member Abdulrahman Zaid Yousef Al-Arfaj as saying.

Al-Arfaj disclosed this at an event attended by 80 engineers and organized by the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines in Saudi Arabia (ASEP-SA), the SCE and Philippine Council of Engineers and Architects (PCEA).

Structural engineers Carlos Villaraza, president of ASEP; and Anthony Pimentel, ASEP past president, attended the event as technical speakers.

Last July, the SCE lauded Filipino engineers for their work ethics.

SCE secretary-general Ghazi Al-Abassi said Filipino architects and engineers update themselves on latest developments in their profession.

“They hold seminars and conventions monthly, which makes them more effective in their participation in the Kingdom’s development,” a report on Arab News quoted Al-Abassi as saying.

He added Filipino engineers have shown their ability for hard work and to deal with their superiors and colleagues from other countries.

Presently, he said there are 16,297 Filipino engineers and architects registered with the SCE.  Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
