Crisis team eyed to search for Pinoys, other workers abducted in Libya oil field
A crisis team is being eyed to facilitate the search for nine foreigners—four of them Filipinos—seized from an oil field in Libya last March 6.
The Department of Foreign Affairs on Saturday said this was one of the agreements DFA secretary Albert del Rosario reached with envoys from three other countries.
Del Rosario was in Tunisia March 12 and 13 to oversee the repatriation of Filipinos from strife-torn Libya.
While there, the DFA said, Del Rosario met with the ambassadors of Austria, Bangladesh, and the Czech Republic, whose nationals were among those abducted March 6.
"The officials agreed to coordinate closely and create a crisis team to facilitate the search for their missing nationals," the DFA said.
Earlier, the DFA noted Tunisia is now considered the main exit point for Filipinos being evacuated from Libya.
