Israel-based OFWs can now avail of Balik Manggagawa online processing system
Overseas Filipino workers in Israel can now avail of the government's Balik Manggagawa online processing system if they want to return to Israel after visiting the Philippines.
The Department of Labor and Employment said this saves them the hassle of going to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration to apply for an overseas employment certificate.
Labor Attache Rodolfo Gabasan in Israel said the POLO there launched the Balik-Manggagawa Online Processing System last January 19.
"The Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Israel is one of four POLOs that already use the BM Online ... The other three POLOs are those in Singapore, Macau, and Dubai," said DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz.
Gabasan said that in Israel, caregiver Baby Jane Buenaflor was the first worker who availed of the online system to apply for an OEC.
"I don't anymore want to experience the long queues in the POEA," she said.
Such a system provides convenience to vacationing OFWs.
However, Gabasan said that as the system is still in its initial phase in Israel, OFWs there will still pay for the OEC fee at the POLO Office.
Eventually, he said there may be other collecting facilities to be set up in Israel.
Presently, the DOLE said the system is available at bmonline.poea.gov.ph. and can be accessed through the POEA website at poea.gov.ph. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
