Pinay’s corpse left to decompose in Borneo home – reports

A Filipina who died from stomach pain was left to decompose in her home in Malaysia, two Malaysian news sites reported.

Relatives of Habiba Majani, 36, claimed they did not know what to do with it, according to a report on Malay-language site Berita Harian.

Berita Harian, which reported the incident Sunday, said the Filipina died Saturday afternoon after complaining of chest pain.

A separate report on Malaysia's The Star Online said the family asked for help only after the body started to smell.

It quoted Miri police Superintendent Stanley Jonathon Ringgit as saying Habiba, a washerwoman, suffered intestinal cancer and did not work for months.

“After she died, her brother did not know how to arrange for a funeral, and the family just left the body there until it started to decompose,” it quoted him as saying.  Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
