2 arrested in UAE for raping Pinay jobseeker –report

Two Pakistani men were arrested in the United Arab Emirates after allegedly luring a Filipina jobseeker to an interview and sexually assaulting her, a UAE news site reported Tuesday.

report on Khaleej Times said the Pakistanis allegedly contacted the Filipina, 35, with a job offer and arranged an interview with her.

Police arrested in a follow-up operation a 32-year-old who has a residence visa, and a 37-year-old who is on a visit visa.

Recovered from them was an "electroshock" device they allegedly used to assault the Filipina.

In her complaint lodged with Al Raffa police on June 5, the Filipina said she posted an ad seeking a job. At the time, she said she is in Dubai with a visit visa.

She said one of the suspects called her and set up a meeting near Burjuman Metro station for a supposed job interview. But when she got to the job interview site, she saw the men in a blue car along with another man, and was asked to get inside the car.

The men then drove to an unidentified location, where the suspects allegedly started an "inappropriate" conversation with her.

He then touched her, but when she reportedly resisted, he slapped her on the face and attacked her with an “electroshock" device, then allegedly raped her.

The driver then took her to another location, tied her hands with a belt and attacked her again with the electroshock device and allegedly raped her as well.

He then allegedly stole her mobile phone and Dh1,000.

The Filipina said she managed to escape and hid in an under-construction site until the suspects drove off. She then asked for help from a motorist, who got her to Al Raffa police station.

Following their arrest, the two suspects were referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution on charges of sexual assault, physical assault and theft. Joel Locsin/KBK, GMA News
