Pinoy succumbs to heat stroke in Saudi –report
A Filipino succumbed to heat stroke in Saudi Arabia last Saturday, a Saudi news site reported on Tuesday.
The report on Arab News identified the fatality as Omar Balindong, who was pronounced dead at a hospital in Qassim.
Philippine ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ezzedin Tago cited initial information indicating Balindong, a correspondent of The Filipino Channel (TFC), died from heat stroke.
The Arab News report said Balindong played a round of basketball, but looked pale while resting. He was rushed to a hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
His colleagues are coordinating with the Philippine Embassy for his repatriation.
“Filipinos working in the Kingdom should take care of their health, especially now that it’s summer. They should also drink sufficient amount of water,” Tago told Arab News.
Tago also said Filipinos need to exercise, with some "prone to heart attack due to the fatty food they eat." —Joel Locsin/KBK, GMA News
