2 Pinoys get 3 months for molesting Kenyan boy in UAE

A United Arab Emirates court on Wednesday sentenced two Filipino cleaners to three months in jail after finding them guilty of molesting a seven-year-old Kenyan schoolboy last March.

The Dubai Court of First Instance found the two Filipinos aged 25 and 21 guilty of breaching the boy’s privacy by showing him indecent movies, UAE news site Gulf News reported Thursday.

“I did not molest the boy,” one of the Filipinos had argued when he entered a not guilty plea. However, the other admitted helping him.

Presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi ordered the two deported once they serve their sentences.

Wednesday’s ruling is subject to appeal within 15 days.

An investigation showed the two cleaners took the boy while he was playing in front of his home to their house. Once at their house, they showed him "dirty" images on a mobile phone before one of them molested him.

The 25-year-old was also convicted of possessing pornographic material with intent to show it to others.

The boy’s Kenyan mother said she went out of her house to look for the boy as he had not returned after 8 p.m. She said the maid called her at 9:15 p.m. and told her the boy had gone home. When she asked him why he was late, he cried.

"When I insisted on him speaking, he claimed to me to that the cleaners molested him. He said they took him to a room where they showed him images of naked women and one of them touched him indecently,” the mother said.

Police then arrested the two after the mother reported the incident. Joel Locsin/KBK, GMA News
