Pinay injured after reportedly jumping off Kuala Lumpur airport flyover —embassy
A Filipina was injured after she reportedly jumped off a flyover at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA-2) last June 9 but is now safe and recovering, the Philippine Embassy in Malaysia said over the weekend.
In a post on on its social media account, it also said it is arranging for the Filipina's repatriation.
"Embassy representatives have visited her at the hospital, where she is recuperating from a broken leg and other related injuries. She was also able to call her family in the Philippines during that time," it said.
It also belied news "circulating in social media" that the Filipina had died, saying she is "safe and is recuperating from her injuries at a nearby hospital."
"We are extending the necessary assistance for her, including her repatriation... when she is already fit for travel,” it added.
Citing initial information, the embassy said the Filipina jumped from a height of five meters at the KLIA 2.
Several passersby saw the incident and immediately called for help.
Meanwhile, the embassy asked netizens to exercise caution about spreading information on social media.
“Because of the sensitivity of her condition, we would like to request that we allow her time to rest and recover from the incident. We also ask that netizens exercise caution about sharing information in social media, especially on cases like these,” the embassy said. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
